Megan grew up dancing and competing in the greater Seattle area where she studied many styles of dance. During this time she was able to compete nationally in New York and Las Vegas and take part in many tap dance festivals regionally and in Vancouver BC. In high school she studied tap at Johnson & Peters Tap Dance Seattle. While at Johnson & Peters she was given many opportunities to take master tap classes from greats such as Savion Glover, Dianne “Lady Di” Walker, Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards, Lane Alexandar and many others.
After high school Megan spent a year studying modern and ballet at Columbia College Chicago. While in Chicago she also trained in tap under Jimmy Payne, Jr. In 2008 Megan received her B.F.A. in Dance Choreography and Performance from Western Washington University. She was the recipient of the Monica Gutchow Dance Arts in Education Scholarship 2007/2008 and the Mentoring Undergraduates Grant from the W.W.U. Foundation in 2008. She received the Outstanding Graduate Award for Dance in 2008. While at Western she was privileged to perform in reconstructions of James Kudelka’s Soudain, l’Hiver Dernier, Hannah Kahn’s Only, and Mark Morris’ New Love Song Waltzes.
